My mom reserved two cabins on a five night cruise for homeschoolers! We'll go to the Western Caribbean again, but the girls haven't been there, and I certainly won't mind going again. Maybe Catherine would like to do some diving with me! We won't be taking the boys. The cruise is in October of 2006.
On the way home today....
Robert: Mommy, four and two is six.
We talked about that just a bit, and then he got quiet. Then a few minutes later....
Robert: And do you know how much four and four is?
Me: Yes, but do you know?
Robert: Yes. It's eight!
More talking... A little later....
Robert: How many is 1 billion and 1 billion?
And so it went, all the way home. And for some reason people are so concerned that unschooled children won't learn math! Ha! My children have always done things like this at a young age. Well, except for Dorothy, who never had much interest in math, except for cooking and baking.
Now he wants to know how to spell "eye". Or maybe he wants to know how to spell "I". :-)
